Benefits of Underfloor Heating

Underfloor heating is very different from traditional radiators. In terms of comfort, aesthetics, and economy, living with the natural warmth of underfloor heating could not be easier.

Integrating your heating system into the fabric of the building is a simple, effective, safe and achievable solution. It enhances the way you enjoy your home, you are in control of the design and layout of your rooms.

Floor coverings can be what you want, with few restrictions:

Design freedom

Comfort

Economics

Hygiene

Safety

Kindness

Design freedom

The absence of obtrusive radiators releases wall and floor space, giving freedom of design and furniture placement.

Comfort

Hot radiators heat the air in the room by convection, drawing cold air across the floor and sending it up to the ceiling.

Alternatively, underfloor heating warms the lower part of the room where the occupants are, matching closely the ideal heat comfort profile, with the feet just slightly warmer than the head. A high proportion of the heat emitted by an underfloor heating system is radiant. The occupants are heated directly; the air in between less so. Underfloor heating gives a feeling of natural warmth with no stuffiness.

Economics

Although underfloor heating generally costs more to install, it releases the unusable floor and wall space required by radiators. The value of this, based on the building cost per square metre, can far outweigh any extra cost.

The features which enhance comfort also reduce running costs, providing warmth where the occupants are rather than heating the ceiling. Lower return water temperatures increase the efficiency of condensing boilers, maintenance and servicing costs are low.

Hygiene

The circulation of dust and dust mites is reduced. There are no radiators to collect dust and spiders' webs or to be cleaned, redecorated or renewed.

Safety

The risk of injury particularly to children and the elderly through the high temperatures or sharp corners of radiators is removed.

Kindness

The low heat gradients and low humidity variations characteristic of underfloor heating create a kind environment for you and for your furniture, antique or modern.
